Cairns Festival 2012

I was taking a rest at my room, waiting for breakfasting (it was the last day of Ramadhan 2012) when my house-mate called me in a late Saturday afternoon. He informed me that in coming minutes, Cairns Festival will be started in the Esplanade Beach near to Cairns City Mall, only 15 minutes from my house by bike. In no time, I went online from my room just to check what was the event about, what to see there and what should I bring. This is one of best things in a developed country such as Australia, everything is on the webs.

I was excited when I knew that there will be a big fireworks in the beach in the evening, So, I prepared my Camera, tripod and other stuffs, this what I was waiting for so long!!!

Cains Festival is an annual event that has been held since 1967 as the Cairns Tourist Festival in order to attract more tourist to visit Cairns. It draws thousands of people every year to enjoy the seaside city.

I almost there when I saw crowded people on the road banks, they were watching a long parade. It seemed that the festival already begun. I pushed my bike harder to get there as soon as possible. As a arrived, I put my bike and chained it on the roadside together with other bikes.

It was really fun, a grand parade was an opening event of the festival. Thousands people from locals and visitors lining the roadway. They were wearing typical clothing that represent their identities. From different nationalities, hobbies, views and even different beliefs and so on and so fort.

I posted some of photos from the festival and made up the story of it only for fun, just enjoy it and leave a comment :)
Long march either walking or using any kind of transportation

These girls are Japanese or Hybrid products? LOL
Beautiful girls wearing unique costumes
This might be Japanese costumes people from Meiji Era?

This guy is trying to find a way back to the Moon with his push bike and singing   a song "Riding to the Moon" by Bruno Mars (LOL).

We call it Barongsai, it is very common in Indonesia especially  for special occasion such as Chinese New Year. They are dancing and slitering on the street to entertain people particularly children, Sometime accompanied by firecrackers.

The grand parade was lasted for about one hour, from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm. After that, I walked around esplanade enjoyed the music performance and beautiful art while waiting for the last supper of the show at that night, yes the Fireworks!!

What a gorgeous and long lasted fireworks, the biggest I have ever seen so far in Cairns, much better than those in Cairns show a couple months ago.

Well, thats not all of it but, I have got no time to upload all the photos, maybe next time :)
